The History of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez
The story began on September 29, 1981, with nothing more than a friendly challenge. The yacht Pride challenged the 12-meter Ikra to a race from the village of Saint-Tropez to Pampelonne beach, via Nioulargo. That’s how it all started, with Ikra seeking a rematch, soon joined by other boats eager to compete.
Since then, the world’s most extraordinary sailing vessels—traditional yachts during the first week, and modern maxi-yachts in the second—have gathered in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, blending competition with camaraderie in a unique atmosphere.
The 2025 Edition: New Format, New Dates
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2025 will take place from September 27 to October 5, 2025, promising a spectacular event that brings together the finest classic and modern yachts in the sailing world.
This year, the program highlights breathtaking regattas from the opening weekend, allowing the public to witness the action from day one.

The major novelty in 2025: superyachts will compete starting the first weekend. Sailing enthusiasts will be able to admire racing monohulls over 60 feet, helmed by world-class crews, as they battle it out in front of the village. This eagerly awaited format brings together the jewels of naval architecture, spanning more than a century of history.
The Voiliers de Tradition will arrive with the prestigious Yacht Club de France Autumn Cup. From Monday, September 29, the Modern yachts will set sail, benefitting from a flexible program thanks to geo-positioned autonomous buoys and an agile race committee able to adapt courses to weather conditions.
The spectacle will continue with the arrival of traditional yachts, for a unique blend of legends and modernity.
